As it is quite flat, there is not a lot of spectacular scenery. There is a road you can go by foot/bycicle /car and a 5km path to the crocodile lake but there is really nothing to see besides some monkeys. You can do everything by your own if you like. Besides the 60k VND they charge another quite substantial amount of 250k VND only to arrive at the crocodile lake, a boat for 2 costs 150k VND there. The quality of the bycicles to rent is scrap and even dangerous saddle breaking or brakes not working - this for 150k VND a day, they can play there monopoly there as you get charged 100k VND if you want to bring your own bycicle over the river still recommended just for security and riding fun reasons . Being there in January kayaking was not possible due to currents. A river boat tour without stop/1hr costs 600-800k VND. All in all, there are much better places in Vietnam or the countries around to enjoy and see more astonishing January 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We two adults, 7 and 10 year old spent ~2 days there and went on the night safari, the jeep ride and hike to the Crocodile Lake and visited the Bear Rescue Centre. Before we went we read a number of critical reviews and all we can say is that we're glad we didn't let those influence us. Cat Tien is a very important wilderness park to Vietnam - its primary function is to protect the plant and animals of the region. It is also staffed by local Vietnamese and ethnic minorities and we felt lucky to be able to visit and get a glimpse of such a rich and varied wildlife environment. It is genuine wilderness - which is to say that nothing is guaranteed. We saw a reasonably broad range of wildlife and it took patience but it's certainly not a zoo. The night safari was not abundant with animals but as the trip went on you realised that the guide was really very skilled at spotting the wildlife that was present along the route. The trek to crocodile lake was through an incredibly diverse and beautiful jungle. One monkey followed us for 5km and we spotted a small number of others, a few gibbons in the tree-tops and heard some more substantial animals around us as we walked. In fact plant and tree life was a surprising star of the show for the day. After all that we visited the Bear Rescue Centre where one of the guides/workers brought us around and told us all about how it was setup, where the animals come from, their aims etc and all the while we got to see them up-close, being fed, etc. Having a local to talk with for an hour was lovely and she was really nice to our kids and gently shared her love of animals. A really lovely experience all in all. I think if you're reasonable in your expectations you will find you get a lot from a visit and we'd have no reservation in recommending Cat Tien National Leech socks /cream are necessary and do work with a little diligence. We hiked 5km immediately after rains and had to flick off dozens of leeches but four of us managed the 10km return trip without any blood is possible to stay at Crocodile Lake and I wish we had, it's an incredibly peaceful place and I suspect the dawn chorus would be July 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The rooms are clean with strong wi-fi and the surrounding nature is just amazing. They have been improving a lot. They are trying to make it more visitor-friendly concrete road, bike rental, clear sign with map while still reserving the wildlife. The tour guides at Cat Tien forest are very passionate about their jobs and they go above and beyond to show you around. Cat tien is like an all-in-one spot. I read some many good things about it, but it was so disappointing. I got the tour booked through the park office directly. It was expensive; the guide was not friendly at all and didn't talk much. Nothing besides the guide was included, I didn't hear the gibbons sing. We saw a few gibbons jumping on the trees, but it was so high up, I could barely see anything, and of course the guide didn't have binoculars for me. But he showed me some youtube videos on his phone on the way back?! I guess that was very February 8, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Read our transparency report to learn FColumbus, OH385 contributionsJan 2020My advice is to go for at least two or three days if you are a birder. We had arranged ahead of time to have a local birding guide help us find birds at Cat Tien. Many of the birds we found early in the morning from the sidewalk leading away from the park headquarters. It helped that our guide had a spotting scope with him. We also visited three hides in the forest and saw many birds from there. We ate both lunch and dinner at the Yellow Bamboo Restaurant next to the ferry, which was basic but good. In the evening we did the nightly safari trip, even though our guide said to only expect some deer. We saw two different kinds of deer, an owl, and a porcupine. We enjoyed it, even though it is too difficult to take photographs at night while on a bumpy truck. We stayed at the Cat Tien Jungle Lodge across the river, which was comfortable, although we thought the breakfast buffet could have been better. If you do the night safari, you will still be able to get a ferry across the river to your lodging on the other side. The next morning we needed to return to HCMC around noon. We skipped breakfast in order to go back to the park. Our biggest problem was that we wanted to take the ferry across the river earlier than when the first ferry left. It was so frustrating to hear all the gibbons at the park in the early morning while sitting and waiting for the ferry! We did not do the gibbon trek as the gibbons pretty much can be seen directly from the park headquarters and lodging. They put out a basket of bananas behind one of the buildings to attract them so tourists can have a better chance of spotting April 23, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
