Trong năm 2021, Chứng khoán VNDirect và Chứng khoán SSI đã lần lượt thông qua chủ trương tăng vốn điều lệ lần lượt lên tỷ đồng và hơn tỷ đồng trong năm 2022. Mức vốn này đã ngang ngửa với vốn điều lệ của một số ngân hàng tầm trung như HDB tỷ đồng, VIB tỷ đồng, Seabank tỷ đồng,… Quý 3/2022, Công ty CP Chứng khoán Kỹ Thương TCBS vừa có văn bản xin ý kiến cổ đông về việc tăng vốn đầu tư trị giá tỷ đồng. Tuy nhiên, thanh khoản của thị trường vẫn duy trì ở mức cao. Điều này cho thấy có nhiều dòng tiền mới vào thị trường, không chỉ có dòng tiền từ đầu năm 2021 đến nay, nhiều công ty chứng khoán đã thông qua phương án tăng vốn và nộp hồ sơ lên UBCKNN đề nghị chấp thuận phương án tăng vốn” - đại diện UBCKNN cho thời điểm đầu năm 2020, nhiều công ty chứng khoán thậm chí còn phải ngừng cấp margin cho khách hàng do cổ phiếu không còn “room để mua”.Trước sức nóng của thị trường chứng khoán, các công ty chứng khoán bước vào cuộc chạy đua ồ ạt phát hành cổ phiếu để tăng vốn chủ sở hữu, từ đó nâng giới hạn margin được phép cho bối cảnh việc huy động vốn từ trái phiếu bị siết chặt theo Nghị định số 81/2020/NĐ-CP, không ít công ty chứng khoán chọn con đường phát hành cổ khoán VNDIRECT phát hành hơn 220 triệu cổ phiếu tăng vốn cho cổ đông hiện hữu tỉ lệ 11.
